Highlights of Fall Market Day
Many people spent many hours to make this day possible. Michele Oltra, Ed Fitzpatrick, Millie Ohm, Barbara Waite, Rita Sparano, John Sparano, Debbie Pothier, Nancy Zorena, Bob Gondar, Brian Pattyson, Judy Standerford, Brenda Schultz, and Abigail Schultz all helped with preparations. Brian Pattyson, Bob Gondar, and Bill Miko arranged for the antique car show. Peter Barna, Leo Brzozoski, Albert Yankowski, John Rose, Bob Gondar and Bill Miko had their cars on display. Members responded to our calling tree and donated tag sale items and bake sale items. Callers were Madelyn Marshall, Sue Cappucci, Pat Arnold, Millie Ohm, Arlene Gondar, Marie Lederer, Brian Pattyson, Lynn Renaud, Judy Standerford, Barbara Waite, and Carolyn Adelman. Jean Weicker, Elizabeth Edgerton, Peggy Villani and Megan McIlhony lent helping hands on Market Day. These volumes had been stored at Masuk and were about to be thrown away because of space constraints. Michele Oltra rescued them for us and they are now at the Beardsley Homestead. We are looking for back issues of the Monroe Courier (1960s and earlier) so that they can be microfilmed. We have several old editions but they are not complete. On Sunday, October 24, Nick Bellatoni presented a program on Native American history in Connecticut. He also spoke about several archeological sites in the area and offered to send us a map of archeological sensitive sites in and around Monroe. Thank you to member Alex Sowchuk for donating a screen for our slide shows. We are in need of a carousel slide projector for the Meeting House. Many of our programs include slide presentations and we do not always have one available. Please call 268-5511 if you have one to donate.
